The 1940's saw similar dresses as the 1930's, especially in the early years when WW2 limited new designs (and also new families, although both my parents were born in the war years.) There were a few common styles of maternity dresses. The 1930s favorite was the wrap front dress. One side of the dress wrapped over to the other size and was held in place with small buttons and a self fabric tie in the front. As baby bumps grew, the wrap front moved closer to the center with a row of buttons on the side wrap. Extra fabric at the back of the dress also allowed room for expansion but was kept neat by the tie.

Based on LMP calculations, your due date is almost precisely nine months after your last period, but typical ovulation (and therefore conception) is two weeks after your period begins. Those two weeks are counted in the 40 weeks of pregnancy, but you haven't actually been pregnant that time, so total pregnant time is 38 weeks (if you deliver on time). 38/4 is 9.5, which by the 4 weeks = 1 month logic would make it 9.5 months, but as we all know, there are never 4 precise weeks in a month. There are an average of 4.3ish weeks in a month (31 or 30 divided by 7, not counting February which is 27/7 making it 3.85 weeks long).

Look for: Breathability, softness, durability and stretch are the things to look for in high-quality, comfortable maternity clothes. Natural fabrics such as cotton, modal, and bamboo will be soft and breathable - helping you with those pregnancy hot flashes and itchiness that are so common. Blended jersey made from those natural materials together with Spandex or lycra deliver the stretchiness, support and shape retention you need to accommodate your body as it changes.
